The MOH FWD MY Heroes Fund: A gratitude to the heroes of our healthcare system

On 9 April 2020, FWD Takaful announced the launch of a RM5 million special fund, dubbed the ‘Ministry of Health (MOH) FWD MY Heroes Fund’.

This initiative was created to support the Ministry of Health frontliners in recognition and appreciation of their roles in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Salim Majid Zain, FWD Takaful’s Chief Executive Officer said, “We wish to express our gratitude to all healthcare frontliners for their admirable sacrifice and patience while putting the patients' needs first to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The initial fund gave frontliners a six-month complimentary benefits period starting from 1 April 2020. The fund was later topped up to reach a total of RM10 million, and benefits were extended to 31 December 2021. All MOH frontliners are entitled to a compassionate benefit upon death due to COVID-19 or other causes. We also provided a relief allowance if the MOH frontliner is hospitalised due to COVID-19, and this relief allowance will be extended to their immediate family members too.
